Giftaway 2020

For the 2nd year in a row, the Emerging Leaders of America partnered with non-profit Access to Wholistic & Productive Living, Inc.  to distribute toys to the Town of Colmar Manor.  The COVID19 pandemic made this initiative invaluable.

More invaluable than we anticipated.

On December 18 and December 21st Board Member Ralph Williams dropped off over $500 worth of toys to the town of Colmar Manor for their annual toy giveaway. In his best Kris Kringle imitation he found out that the Town of Colmar Manor serves over 300 families per year with toys.  Thankfully, ELA Alumni donated almost $2000 in contributions which created a good dilemma; should the ELA use ALL of the donated money for toys or figure out a way to directly help families during this trying time?

The Board chose to support a small group of families at the LaSalle-Backus Educational Campus in Northeast Washington, DC.  Ten $100 Target gift certificates were purchased and given to the school.  Thanks were conveyed by Social Worker Yoland Ugorji: “Thanks again to you and the Emerging Leaders of America Business Collaborative for your generous donations of gift cards to our families in need.  Your donation provided much-needed relief to our families, and I again wanted to say thank you.”
